RTV Gasket Makers
RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) gasket makers have better gap-filling properties than anaerobic gasket makers which makes them more suited for assemblies that have wider gaps with surfaces that are not precision machined. They cure when exposed to air at room temperature, where anaerobic gasket makers cure in the absence of air. The liquid form of these gasket makers replaces the need for a precut material gasket by filling the space between two mating surfaces. Also called formed-in-place (FIP) gaskets, they seep into pits and scratches to provide a clean surface and create any shape needed. RTV gasket makers are lighter weight and thicker than cork, paper, or rubber gaskets.
