Switch TypeThis describes the function of switches that turns tools on and off.
Lever and paddle allow users to hold the switches down with their fingers while gripping the tool, making them more comfortable for extended use than non-locking switches.Safety levers lock off until users engage a secondary switch to unlock the lever. Trigger (typically found on rat tail tools) allows users to hold the switch down with their index finger.
Temperature DifferentialThis is the temperature difference between when the heating or air conditioning turns on and when it shuts off.
For example, if the differential is 1.5°F and the temp setpoint is 70°F, the heating source will turn on when the temperature drops below 68.5°F and the cooling source will turn on when the sensed temperature rises above 71.5°F.
Temperature Control RangeThe temperature controls are limited to operating within this range. For example, if the control range is 40°F to 90°F, the temperature cannot be set below 40°F or above 90°F.
PlasticPlastic enclosures are corrosion-resistant, so they are good for areas exposed to water spray and high humidity.
AluminumAluminum enclosures are lightweight and corrosion-resistant. They are stronger than plastic enclosures but not as strong as steel or stainless steel enclosures.
Steel & Stainless SteelSteel enclosures provide the highest strength of all enclosure materials. Stainless steel enclosures are corrosion-resistant and stronger than plastic or aluminum enclosures.
Open on RiseOpen on rise switches turn on the heating system when the temperature falls below a specified level.
Close on RiseClose on rise switches turn on the cooling system when the temperature rises above a specified level.
Open/Close on RiseOpen/close on rise switches turn on the heating or cooling system accordingly when the temperature falls or rises above a specified level.
Remote-Bulb Sensor Temperature Controls
Remote-bulb sensor temperature controls have a capillary tube and sensor that monitor and regulate the temperature of the ambient air, a liquid, or a gas at a distance away from the control. This style of thermostat uses expanding liquid to open or close contacts in response to temperature changes. These controls are ideal for commercial and industrial HVAC applications where the controller must be placed outside of the sensing area, such as refrigeration control and temperature regulation of air or liquids in ducts, pipes, tanks, and boilers.
